fw 1970 yves saint laurent corduroy mutton sleeve coat
yves saint laurent rive gauche 1970 black corduroy coat. a beautiful and rare early example of saint laurent's work, the design of this coat is a great nod to past eras but is a very classic 1970s design. the amazing construction of this coat can only be fully experienced once it's on-- the perfectly balanced fit through the waist, exaggerated mutton sleeves and a-line shape of the bottom of the coat. the fabric is a velvety corduroy, there are hidden pockets at the waist and the coat is lined. a highly documented and collectible piece, shown here on catherine deneuve in paris-match's october 1970 issue, in an editorial entitled 'La Mode de Catherine', shot by françois gragnon. also shown in the book "Saint Laurent Rive Gauche: Fashion Revolution".
