an emmanuelle khanh daffodil yellow knit linen skirt ensemble, featuring a chic open back knit top (which on its own is a great piece but even better with the skirt.)
the fashion historian and curator valerie steele has described khanh as part of the 1960s fashion revolution, in which female designers from around the world brought street influences and young, easy-to-wear clothing in as a challenge to the then male-dominated formal world of haute couture. khanh said she wanted to design clothes that anyone on the street could wear.
emmanuelle khanh started her fashion career as a model in the 60s (modeling for both cristóbal balenciaga and hubert de givenchy) and later launched her own line, becoming a leading name in the french new wave movement. she collaborated with missoni and also designed for krizia and cacharel.
as described above, this ensemble is incredibly easy to wear— the breathable knit linen (not stiff) and open back make it a great summer option that offers a little more coverage. (a great set for featuring a good pair of sandals.) the top features a wider dolman sleeve with a mock neck that buttons behind the neck and a wide cummerbund sash that can be worn lower on the hips or higher up as a crop top. there are side cloth-covered button closures on the skirt, a single pocket on the right waist (a great unique feature), pleats at the waist with belt loops. the skirt is lined, the top unlined.
the set is a knit linen (not stiff like a woven linen but more like a lightweight knit). excellent condition.
should fit a small to medium, depending on the fit of the waist of the skirt, which will determine how high or low the skirt is worn (the top can be worn by most sizes)
