available is a rare bill gibb ss 1977 silk print skirt ensemble with beautiful oversized shawl. known as the "forgotten hero of the scottish highlands", bill gibb’s story could be played in london like a broken record: a designer comes from nowhere (or, in his case, from a farming family in the far north of the british isles), becomes famous and feted, dresses high society and rockers, loses his backer and goes bust. his career was short but prolific and he was able to incarnate the romantic essence of british style. when you take in the entirety of bill gibb's creations, you can see through his designs that he was a dreamer and a fairytale lover and a storyteller, without even reading it in every blurb about him. there's always drama and flair in what he creates and you can see his influence on john galliano's fantastical work later down the line.

this set happens to have all the drama and romance bill gibb is known for but is a bit more polished and chic (and completely wearable today). it features a beautiful ornate print on both pieces and a fringe tassel on the shawl that can be used as a closure for wear. the skirt is silk-lined with a side slit with side zip and hook closures. also shown are runway photos from that season, a 1970s ad with the same print shawl, and photos from his retrospective exhibition at London's Fashion and Textile Museum. a highly collectible and rare piece that will likely go up in value.

tagged size 10, fits like a small. in excellent condition with minor signs of wear - one small mend at the very end of shawl
