available is a christian dior fw 2006 by john galliano velvet devore bias cut floor length dress. this dress is constructed from a beautiful deep eggplant purple velvet devore fabric that is “stamped” with christian dior writing, as well as its residence at Avenue Montaigne in Paris and the season and year of the dress. there is a silk chiffon ruffle detail that starts at the bust and back of the dress and curves around the dress (and body) and ends at the fishtail hem, joined at the hem by two chiffon inserts that give the bottom of the dress a little more drama and flare as you walk. the slightly asymmetric bust is held up by thin spaghetti straps, as well as a wide mesh panel that twists over the shoulder. there are so many small details that exemplifiy the best of what makes galliano such a genius, including the way the dress is cut perfectly to hug the curves of the body. also shown here is the more rock and roll sister version of the dress that made it to the runway that season, though this more elegant version seems to stand the test of time a bit more. fully lined in a silk chiffon, with his signature long row of button closures. highly collectible and will go up in value.
