1977 halston black taffeta dot wrap gown

a rare and collectible halston fall 1977 black taffeta gown, featuring a wrap style bodice, velvet dalmation dot on taffeta fabric, slight dolman sleeves, extra full skirt with pockets at the waist (favorite detail). there are two hidden closures at the waistband that can be easily adjusted to fit a variety of sizes. lined in a black taffeta to add structure to the garment. hand stitching at the hems, which halston pieces are known for.

halston did not do ballgowns often (which is evident after perusing thousands of archive photos) and this one was made famous by pat cleveland in that first widely shared image.

no tag size but fits a small with hook closures as is-- the hooks at the waist can easily be adjusted for fit. in excellent condition. some very minor wear on velvet at the waistband.
