this museum-held dress was elegant and easy to wear and so worn by many-- elizabeth taylor, barbara walters, and the white jersey version shown here on rachel zoe. WWD did a write up of the dress (article shown here) and actress polly bergen told WWD that hers let her “be lazy and still feel wonderful. if you have even a moderately good body, and a good bust and shoulders, it gives the impression that you have a long, lean, tall body.” when halston was asked what the secret to the mystique of the dress was, he said “it goes back to the bias cut. it gives a woman enough of a figure without elastic and a corset. it gives her that sexy, beautiful body that everyone wants.”
