1960s pierre cardin floral circle scarf dress
1960s pierre cardin floral circle scarf dress
1960s pierre cardin floral floor length dress with circle scarf collar. pierre cardin shaped the mod aesthetic with space-age fashion — futuristic collections influenced by geometric shapes and crafted in fabrics like plastics and vinyl. cardin revolutionized the materiality of dress in the 1960’s through minimalist, contemporary forms. the cardin-girl is special and not only at the cutting edge but ahead of it.
this dress is unique with its dash of pierre cardin's iconic futurism in the circular shaped ends of the long scarf (that is actually an extension of the collar)-- a standout design element of the dress that floats around you as you move - this circular motif was used repeatedly through his work. the dress's overall silhouette is much more romantic and chic and wearable in a fine cotton silk blend. the long clean line of the dress that ends at the ruffle hem works to lengthen the body and the ruffle hem sways beautifully as you walk (shown in the videos). the dress is lined under the floral overlay and has hook closures down the back, with an inner zip closure in the lining. a somehow both romantic and futurist (and collectible) iconic piece.
fits like a small to medium, in excellent condition. the previous owner had the dress taken out a bit in the back at the lining and it was worn with the floral overlay unhooked in the back of the dress-- the model is wearing the dress hooked and at its original sizing. the dress can be kept as is for versatility of size or tailored back to its original size.
